Ultimate Socket 775 CPU Identification

I can only show you the back sides of 775 CPUs I own personally. Thus, there may contain (much) more minor (or even obvious) variations. E.g. the back of a Pentium 4 Extreme Edition Gallatin looks completely different from a Prescott one. I can't show this, though, since I do not own one. I'll try to document every variation I'll find.

Net-Burst Socket 775 Processors

"90 nm Intel Prescott Socket 775"

CPUs known to look like this:

  • Intel Pentium 4 5xx Prescott All Steppings
  • Intel Pentium 4 6xx Prescott 2M All Steppings
  • Intel Celeron D 3xx Prescott-256 E0, (some G1?) Stepping

Some capacitors may slightly differ in size.

"90 nm Intel Smithfield Socket 775"

CPUs known to look like this:

  • Intel Pentium D 8xx Smithfield All Steppings

"65 nm Intel Presler B1 & C1 Socket 775"

CPUs known to look like this:

  • Intel Pentium D 9xx Presler B1 & C1 Stepping

D0 has slightly altered capacitor arrangement.

"65 nm Intel Cedar Mill D0 Socket 775"

CPUs known to look like this:

  • Intel Pentium 4 6xx Cedar-Mill D0 Stepping
  • Intel Celeron D 3xx Cedar-Mill-512 D0 Stepping

Core Socket 775 Processors

"65 nm Intel Conroe B2 Socket 775"

CPUs known to look like this:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo E6xxx Conroe B2 Stepping
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 Conroe-2M G0 Stepping
  • Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800
  • Intel Pentium Dual-Core E21x0 G0 Stepping(?)
  • Intel Xeon 3xxx Conroe B2 & L2(?) Stepping

"65 nm Intel Conroe-2M L2 Socket 775"

CPUs known to look like this:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo E4xxx Conroe-2M L2 Stepping
  • Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2xx0 L2 Stepping
  • Intel Xeon 3040 & 3050 L2 Stepping

"Conroe-2M" is an unofficially used term for Intel Core 2 Duo E4xxx and E6(3/4)00 Conroe core based processors that have 2 MB of Cache. The L2 core revision is made specifically for 2 MB L2 versions of Conroe.

"65 nm Intel Allendale M0 Socket 775"

CPUs known to look like this:

  • Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2xx0 Allendale M0 Stepping
  • Intel Celeron Dual-Core E1x00 Allendale M0 Stepping (All)

"65 nm Intel Kentsfield Socket 775"

CPUs known to look like this:

  • Intel Core 2 Quad Q6xxx All Steppings

"45 nm Intel Wolfdale Socket 775"

CPUs known to look like this:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo E8x00 All Steppings

"45 nm Intel Wolfdale-3M Socket 775"

CPUs known to look like this:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo E7x00
  • Intel Pentium Dual-Core E(5/6)xxx All Steppings
